Google SEO Series 1 Part 5
It is still very common for less than scrupulous seo agencies to utilise ‘dooorway’ pages on client sites.
Here is what Google has to say about this practice:
Another illicit practice is to place “doorway” pages loaded with keywords on the client’s site somewhere. The SEO promises this will make the page more relevant for more queries. This is inherently false since individual pages are rarely relevant for a wide range of keywords. More insidious, however, is that these doorway pages often contain hidden links to the SEO’s other clients as well. Such doorway pages drain away the link popularity of a site and route it to the SEO and its other clients, which may include sites with unsavory or illegal content.
In some cases, we have found some companies are simply ignorant of what damage can be done using the above – even seo agencies.
There is far better ways to develop quality content on your website, which would prove better for your visitors and for Google. The trick is, developing genuine content that your web visitors find useful and are happy to recommend.
Each website and/or business is different, so it helps to get some expert advice on how to plan and develop the right content for your website. This is an area which needs some thought and is best managed by the website owners OR at a push, outsourced to qualified copy writers who can help you manage the load, from your input and direction. Paying companies to generate content for the sake of it is bad form – don’t do it!
You have been warned! LOL
